White Clover – Trifolium repens

Plant : White Clover grows in abundance in meadows and pastures in rural Northumberland.  It can be a major source of forage for honey bees.  It is a creeping plant, with upright green stems, which can reach 30 cm in height.  The distinctive leaves have three green leaflets.  Each of these leaflets is approximately 20 mm long and has a white V pattern.

Flower : The tiny white flowers grow in composite heads at the end of the stems, in groups of up to 20 flowers.
