Hedge Bindweed – Calystegia sepium
Plant : Hedge Bindweed grows on shrub land and woodland margins, although it is particularly noticeable covering large areas of roadside hedgerows, during late summer and early autumn, in rural Northumberland. It is a climbing, vine-like plant and is a member of the Convolvulaceae family.
Flower : The distinctive large, trumpet shaped, white flowers are approximately 7 cm across and have five united petals. It flowers from July to September.
